  5. What if I don't have all of the information for an ancestor?

Even if you do not have all of the information for an ancestor, that record will still be checked for matches. The more information you put in, the better your chances are for matches. Just enter as much information as you already know. Leave out information you do not know. For example, if I know my ancestor Mary Atworth was born in Michigan, but I do not know the date, I would enter Michigan in the place field, and I would leave the date field blank.  Entering the word "unknown" or entering a ? will prevent our system from finding matches for you. Just leave the space blank if you do not know the information. Once you have entered your information our system will continually search for matches for you.

  6. What is a group? How do I create one? How do I join one?

A group, or a OneGreatFamily Family Group, is your access point to the genealogy in OneGreatFamily. You can join a previously made group or create your own. A group is automatically created for you in order for you to view your genealogy in Genealogy BrowserT.

Follow these steps to create a new group. Go to onegreatfamily.com. Login with your username and password. On your Dashboard, click on the tab labeled 'More.' Find the section with the heading 'Groups.' Under that heading, click on the link 'Create Group.' You will be asked to set up a name and password for the new group. Enter the Group Name and Password, then click on 'submit.' When you create a new group, you automatically become the administrator to that group. Whoever you invite into your group can view, edit, and add to any genealogy in your group.

If someone has invited you to their group by email, and you would like to join that group, follow these steps. Go to onegreatfamily.com. Login with your username and password. On your Dashboard, click on the tab labeled 'More.' Find the section with the heading 'Groups.' Under that heading, click on the link 'Join Group.' Type in the group name and password of the group that you have been invited to. These appear in the invitation email you received. Note: You must be a registered member of OneGreatFamily to join a group.

To invite others to join your group, follow these steps. Go to onegreatfamily.com. Login with your username and password. On your Dashboard, click on the tab labeled 'More.' Find the section with the heading 'Groups.' Under that heading, click on the link 'Invite others to join your group.'
