Discover your ancestors and build your family tree
by searching The Social Security Death Index!
OneGreatFamily still remains focused on providing the BEST
collaborative tree service available. To remain the BEST we are
planning to add many new features to our service, such as The Social
Security Death Index. OneGreatFamily will soon provide you with
access to the most influential, up-to-date Social Security Death
Index available on the Internet!
The Social Security Death Index contains records that are
collected from the U.S. Social Security Administrations Death Master
File. This government provided database contains over 70 million
names of deceased individuals whose death had been reported to the
SSA, was of employment age after 1935, and died before April 2004.
The social security death index contains details about the
individual's name (Last, First), social security number, birth date
(usually complete), death date (usually month/year), last known
residence (zip code, city, county, state), and last benefit payment
location (zip code, city, county, state).
These records you
receive from the SSDI can also lead to the discovery of more vital
information. So watch for the addition of the SSDI on our site! Make
sure you take advantage of this new feature to help discover your
ancestors and build your family tree!

How can my family and friends who are neither guests
nor subscribers view my family tree?by Chelsea Beattie -
Marketing Manager
With OneGreatFamily, EVERYONE benefits
from new discoveries or corrections that are made to your family
tree. OneGreatFamily has made it possible to share your family tree
with your friends and family if you desire.
Many of our
subscribers wish for their friends or family members to have the
opportunity to view their family tree they have created by using
OneGreatFamily, but are confronted with the dilemma that many of
their family and friends are neither guests nor subscribers.
OneGreatFamily has created a unique feature that can help make this
happen! You can now launch your family tree with a link from your
own website or from an email message!
As a OneGreatFamily
Subscriber, you can create hyperlinks that allow your family and
friends to view your genealogy in a "read-only" format. You may
either add the hyperlink to your web page, or add it to an email
message.
To create a hyperlink to an individual in
OneGreatFamily you need to complete the following steps:
1. Login using your username and password 2.Go to
"Create Links" on the right hand side of the screen, and then
click on "Learn More" 3. Enter the individuals OGFN to link to.
An OGFN is an OneGreatFamily Number that is used to create a new
anchor, or bookmark, in your genealogy. Each individual in
OneGreatFamily is given an OGFN. You can locate the number below
the individuals name in your genealogy browser. 4. Enter the
number of generations to display (Note: more generations will take
longer to display). 5. Finally, select the Group from the list,
and then click "Next".
This is a great way to
get those around you involved! If you are not a subscriber,
subscribe today to gain unlimited access to OneGreatFamily's tools
and resources! If you are already a subscriber, click here to take
advantage of this unique feature!

How do I recover my login information? When
you first subscribed or signed up as a guest it was required that
you enter an username and password. Once this was completed, we then
sent you a welcome email with your registration information, which
included your password and user name. Since that time many of us
have probably forgotten our username or password if you are not a
daily user of OneGreatFamily. If you no longer have that email, it
is possible to have your user name and password emailed to
you.
If you have forgotten your username or password, use the
Remind
Me! feature. All we need is your username, email address, or
phone number. If the information you submit matches the information
associated with your OneGreatFamily account, an email will be sent
to you with your login information.
If you have changed your
email address since you created your OneGreatFamily account or do
not receive your login information by email within a few minutes
(when using the "Remind Me!" feature above), you may contact OneGreatFamily
Customer Service by filling out the Contact Form. OneGreatFamily
Customer Support will ask you a few questions to verify you are the
owner of the account, and then supply you with your login
information. If you still continue to experience problems after
using the Contact Form, you may call
